McGill University

Part of McGill's Faculty of Medicine, the McGill School of Nursing (SON) has demonstrated leadership in unique ways since 1920.

1. Over the last 30 years, the School has developed a philosophy of nursing, known as the McGill Model of Nursing.

2. Since 1974, the SON has offered the only Master's program for non-nurses in Canada.

3. In 1990, the first doctoral degree in nursing in Canada was granted at McGill.

4. The CJNR (Formally called the Canadian Journal of Nursing Research), the first journal of nursing research in Canada, was founded at McGill in 1969. The only university-based nursing journal in Canada.
